On Smartbiz, you can set up marketing campaigns to send promotional messages to your customers via Whatsapp. You can use these messages to promote your online webstore among your existing customers and inform them about upcoming discounts, launch of new products and collections and also encourage repeat purchases. This can be done easily by following a few simple steps.

Before you can send a message to customers on whatsapp, you will need to add their contact details on Smartbiz.

  1. Go to ‘My Profile’ tab on your home page and click on ‘Sell using Whatsapp’.
  2. Next, click on ‘Manage Customers’. Here, you will be able to build a repository of all your customers contacts by adding very basic details i.e. their name and contact number. In this database, the contacts added will be organized in 3 tabs:
    1. Potential Tab – You will see contacts of all potential customers, who have not placed any order with the storefront yet. You can build this list by adding contacts 1x1 or by importing them in bulk from your phone book.
    2. Existing Tab – You will see contacts of all existing customers who have placed an order with you on your online webstore. This tab will keep getting populated as more and more people shop from you.
    3. All Tab - You will see a complete list of all existing and potential customer contacts without any duplication.
  3.  To set up marketing campaigns, you will first need to add contacts to build your customer data base. Please note that you may already see some contacts listed for existing customers who have already shopped on your online storefront.  But you need to increase your reach. You can do this 2 ways: 
    1. 1X1 Contact creation -Click on ‘New Customer’ and add the name and mobile number of the customer you want to add. Click on ‘Add’.
    2. Bulk Import – Click on Import Contacts to import multiple contacts from your phone book in one go. You will need to provide Smartbiz access to your phone back for importing these contacts. Next, add the customers you want to import by selecting the checkbox or by clicking on ‘Select All’. Click on ‘Add Customers’.
  4. If you want to delete a customer contact, click on the delete icon. You will be prompted to confirm that you want to delete the contact. Select ‘Yes’. 

How do I set up a marketing campaign and share it with customers on Whatsapp?

A marketing campaign allows you to send customized messages to customers. By setting up a campaign, you can share details of existing or upcoming promotions/ announcements to relevant customers. Setting up a campaign involves three simple steps: selecting a predefined campaign template, entering inputs specific to the campaign and selecting customers you want to share the message with. The detailed steps are listed below:

  1. Go to ‘My Profile’ tab on your home page and click on ‘Sell using Whatsapp’.
  2. Next, click on ‘Set up Marketing Campaign’ and then click on ‘Create new campaign’.
  3. Select the type of whatsapp message you would like to send from a pre-defined set of templates. Example – you can send a welcome message if you want to share promotional offer with potential customers. Click on ‘Edit’.
  4. Alternatively, you can click on the filter icon and select a message template depending on the type of message you want to send. For example, if you want to inform new customers about a discount on apparel and jewelry categories on your store, you can select ‘New Customers’ and ‘Discounts and Offers’ under message type and ‘Apparel’ and ‘Jewelry’ under category. Click on ‘Apply’ after selecting the relevant filters.
  5. Next, enter the inputs needed for setting up your campaign such as the campaign name, promotion code etc. The number and type of inputs will vary depending on the type of message.
  6. Lastly, select the customers who you want to share the message with. You may use the ‘Existing tab’ to target already existing customers and potential tab to select new customers.
  7. Once you have selected your customers, click on ‘Send Message’. If the number of messages you wish to send is below the monthly limit, you will get a prompt that your message was successfully sent.
