Coupons are a simple way to boost sales—whether you're running a festive sale, promoting a new launch, or encouraging repeat customers. SmartBiz lets you create discounts within minutes so customers can apply them directly at checkout.

This article explains how to create and manage coupons separately on Mobile App and Desktop, along with FAQs.

1. Why Coupons Matter

Coupons can help you:

  • Increase conversions during high-intent moments

  • Promote slow-moving or seasonal inventory

  • Encourage customers to order more with minimum order discounts

  • Run limited-time campaigns with ease

2. Prerequisites

Before creating a coupon, ensure:

  • At least one product is listed

  • Coupon code contains only letters or numbers

  • You have decided:

    • Discount type (Flat / Percentage)

    • Minimum order value (optional)

    • Validity dates

    • Usage limits (optional)

Coupons for Mobile 

Step 1 — Open Profile

Go to ProfileGrowth and EngagementOffers and Discounts.
          

Step 2: Select the type of offer you want to give

Click on Create Coupon. Fill in the relevant details

                   

Step 3: Fill in the Discount Amount, Maximum discount allowed, etc and the time period for which the discount is there.

Enter coupon details such as percentage discount, minimum value of order for coupon eligibility, maximum discount that can be availed, number of times that a given customer can use the coupon, validity period of the coupon and the customer set that is eligible for the coupon.

    

Note: Your customers will be able to see the coupon code on your storefront.

Step 4: Click 'Next' to preview the coupon code. Click on 'Create Coupon' to activate the coupon. 

If your coupon is currently active, it will be visible on your storefront and at the time of checkout.

Coupon for desktop

Step 1: Open the Smartbiz Desktop App

Step 2: Go to Growth

Step 3: Click on "Create Offer"

There is a choice between 3 kinds of offers


Product Discount

  1. Select the offer type and provide a descriptive name for your coupon, keeping it within the character limit.

  2. Specify any minimum purchase requirements that customers must meet to qualify for the discount offer.

  3. Adjust other offer settings as needed to tailor the coupon to your promotional strategy.

 

Order Discount

  1. Complete the Basic Details form by selecting the offer type, entering the offer name, and setting offer visibility options.

  2. Define where and how the offer will be visible to customers within the platform.

  3. Double-check all entered details to ensure the offer is configured correctly before proceeding.

 

Buy X Get Y

  1. Open the settings to specify which products customers must buy to qualify for the offer.

  2. Select the specific products that will trigger the coupon eligibility when purchased.

  3. Determine whether the offer applies to specific products or categories as part of the promotion.

  4. Refine the criteria customers must meet, such as quantity or product combinations, to use the coupon.

  5. Confirm the selected products and settings to complete the offer configuration.

Complete the process by confirming the creation of the coupon, making it available to customers.

FAQs

1. Are special characters allowed in coupon codes?

No. Only alphabets and numbers.

2. Are coupons applied on single products or the full cart?

Coupons apply on the entire cart value.

3. Why can't I see my coupon on checkout?

Check if:

  • Coupon has expired

  • Start date is in the future

  • Minimum order value isn’t met

  • Coupon has been deleted or disabled

4. Can customers use more than one coupon?

No. Only one coupon can be applied per order.

5. Can I run unlimited coupons?

Yes. You can create multiple coupons, but only one applies per order.

6. Can I restrict coupons for specific customers?

Currently no. Coupons apply to all customers visiting your store.
