  • Accuracy: Ensures that product data, including descriptions, title, and images, are accurately transferred. You also get a chance to review and edit before marking for final upload.
  • Efficient Catalog Management: Allows you to easily import product listings from Amazon to SmartBiz.

Prerequisites:

Before using the Catalog Import feature, ensure you meet the following requirements:

  1. Amazon Seller Account: You must have an active seller account on Amazon with access to the product catalog - to download the catalog file which needs to be filled and uploaded.
  2. SmartBiz Account: You must have an active SmartBiz account to import products.
  3. Amazon Catalog Template: Make sure you have downloaded the correct Amazon Catalog Template to fill data. This template is available in your Amazon Seller Central account. DO NOT download the beta file, uncheck the beta button if selected by default.

Step-by-Step Guide to Import Catalog from Amazon to SmartBiz:

Step 1: Prepare Your Amazon Catalog Template

  1. Log in to your Amazon Seller Central account.
  2. Navigate to Catalog > Add Products via Upload.

  3. Download the Amazon Catalog Template for your product category. The template will be an Excel file that contains various columns for product details like product title, SKU, price, quantity, and more. You can do this by Download Blank Template > Download Product Spreadsheet > Search Product Type > Uncheck the Beta Version > Generate Spreadsheet.

4. Fill out the template with the relevant product information that you want to upload into Amazon (and upload the details to your Amazon seller account).

Step 2: Log in to Your SmartBiz Account

  1. Open your browser and go to the SmartBiz Login Page.
  2. Enter your username and password to access your account.

Step 3: Access the Catalog Import Feature

  1. Once logged in, navigate to the Catalog Management section in your SmartBiz dashboard.
  2. Select Bulk Actions from the right-hand menu.

Step 4: Upload the Amazon Catalog Template

  1. In the import screen, you’ll find an option to upload a file. Click the Upload File button.
  2. Select the Amazon Catalog Template file that you downloaded and filled out earlier.
  3. Once the file is selected, click Upload to proceed.

Step 5: Column Mappings

  1. SmartBiz will automatically attempt to match the columns from your Amazon Catalog Template with the corresponding fields in SmartBiz.

Step 6: Confirm Product Data

After uploading the file, SmartBiz will convert the file and generate a catalog file in SmartBiz format to be imported.

Review the product details such as Title, Custom SKU, price, description, and Variant attributes by clicking Review Catalog to ensure everything is correct.

  1. If everything looks good, click Import Catalog to begin the import process. Else make the changes and upload using Upload Modified File.

Step 7: Monitor the Import for Errors

The import process will begin. Depending on the number of products, the import may take a few minutes.

  1. Once the import is complete, you will receive a confirmation message. If there are any errors (e.g., missing product information), SmartBiz will provide a detailed report so you can address the issues and re-upload the catalog file.

Step 8: Review Imported Products

  1. Go to your Catalog section in SmartBiz to view the newly imported products.
  2. Ensure that all product details are correctly populated and visible.
  3. You can now manage, edit, and update your product listings as needed.

2. Troubleshooting and FAQs on importing catalog from Amazon?

Troubleshooting:

  • Error in Mapping: If any fields are not as per the mappings in Step 5, the import process will generate undesired result. You can correct your inputs in the Amazon Catalog File, or edit in the converted SmartBiz Template before using Upload Modified File.
  • Missing Product Data: If some product details are missing after the import, verify the information in the Amazon Catalog Template. Ensure that all required fields are filled before uploading.
  • File Issues: Ensure the file is saved correctly before uploading. Don’t forget to save after making any changes.

FAQs:

1. What does “Import Catalog from Amazon” do?
This feature lets sellers who already sell on Amazon.in import product listings (titles, descriptions, images, etc.) directly into SmartBiz instead of creating each product manually.

2. Do I need anything set up on Amazon before I can import?
Yes. You must:

  • Have an active seller account on Amazon.in

  • Be logged into the same account that has your products

  • Ensure your products are published and active on Amazon
If you use a different Amazon account, the import may show incomplete data.

3. Why are some products missing after import?
Products may not appear if:

  • They are inactive or unpublished on Amazon

  • The SKU or ASIN does not resolve correctly

  • The product has missing required data (like category or price) and fails to import
In such cases, check that the product is active and complete on Amazon.

4. Why are product prices or inventory not imported correctly?
Import transfers catalog details — but inventory and price syncing is not automatic after import. You must:

  • Update inventory separately in SmartBiz

  • Confirm prices match your selling strategy on this platform

5. Do product images get imported from Amazon?
Yes, main images and some secondary images are imported. However:

  • Some Amazon listings may use multiple images or variants that don’t map perfectly

  • You may need to upload additional images manually after import

6. What happens to variants (size/color) during import?
Variants are imported as separate products only if they are listed as child ASINs on Amazon. If your Amazon listing uses parent/child relationships correctly, SmartBiz will import variants. If not, variants may be imported as individual listings.

7. Why is the Amazon import process taking a long time?
Import speed depends on:

  • Number of products being imported

  • Network connection quality
Large catalogs may take several minutes to complete the import.

8. Why did I get an error after clicking “Import”?
Errors often happen because:

  • You are not logged into the correct Amazon seller account

  • Amazon’s session expired (try logging in again)

  • Amazon’s API rate limits are reached
Retry after logging into the right account.

9. Will SmartBiz update my Amazon listings after import?
No. This feature only imports products one time. Changes made on SmartBiz will not reflect back on Amazon. If you need sync, it must be done manually or via a third-party integration.

10. Is SKU important for import?
Yes. SKUs are used to match and identify products. If your Amazon products do not have consistent SKUs, the import may create duplicate listings or miss variant grouping.

11. Can I import products from other Amazon marketplaces (like .com or .co.uk)?
No — this feature currently supports import from Amazon.in seller accounts only.

12. Why are some product attributes not imported (like bullet points or UPC)?
Only specific fields supported by SmartBiz catalog import are pulled from Amazon. Attributes that don’t match SmartBiz’s schema (e.g., some backend attributes, UPC, or proprietary fields) may not import.

13. Can I re-run the import if my first import was incomplete?
Yes — you can repeat the import process. Before doing so, clean up partially imported products or fix data discrepancies on Amazon.
