Create Unique Product Pages With Custom PDP Templates

Introduction

Custom Product Detail Page (PDP) templates help you showcase each product in a unique and engaging way. This article explains how you can create, design, and assign custom PDP templates in SmartBiz to highlight richer visuals, key features, and important information for specific SKUs. By customizing PDPs, you can improve product discoverability, enhance customer confidence, and drive better conversions on your website.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that:

  • You are logged in to smartbiz.amazon.in.
  • Your products are already added to the catalogue.
  • You have access to Store Configuration and Edit Product permissions.


In this article you’ll learn how to:


a) Access PDP templates in Store Configuration

1. Log in to smartbiz.amazon.in and go to Store Configuration

2. Click Customize to begin editing your storefront.

3. Select Product Details Page (PDP) from the configuration options

b) Create and design a new PDP template

1. Under Product Details Page, you’ll see that all products are assigned the Default template by default.

2. Click Create New Template to design a unique product page layout.

3. Enter a Template Name to identify the design and select the Based On option.

4. Click Create Template to save your new product page template.


5. Design the PDP template just like any other page layout. In this example, an image banner is added and moved to the top of the Reviews and Ratings to highlight key visuals first.

6. From the Widget List, select Image Banner.

7. Configure the image banner as required (images, layout, alignment).

8. Move the image banner above Reviews & Ratings to highlight key visuals first.

9. Continue customizing the layout based on your product needs by creating Another Template
 

c) Publish PDP templates

1. In the template options section, you’ll see all created templates. Click Publish to save and activate your templates

2. Once published, all templates are automatically saved and available for assignment.



d) Assign templates to individual or multiple SKUs

(i) Assign to a single SKU:

1. Go to Catalog. Select the product and click Edit Product.

2. Locate the PDP Template field and select the desired custom template

3. Click Save Changes to update the product with the selected template.

(ii) Assign to multiple SKUs (Bulk assignment):

1. In the catalog, select multiple SKUs using the checkboxes.

2. Click Update Template to configure the template for the selected SKUs

3. Choose the template you want to apply (for example, Bandhani Template).

4. Click Update Template to finalize.

5. Go to the Website and navigate to the respective SKU to see the new template in action.


After assigning templates:

  • Review each product page to ensure content alignment.
  • Create multiple templates for different product categories or collections.
  • Update templates seasonally or during campaigns for better impact.

Q1: Can I create multiple PDP templates?
Yes. You can create and manage multiple templates and assign them to different SKUs.

Q2: Will changing a template affect all products?
No. Only SKUs assigned to that template will reflect the changes.

Q3: Can I edit a template after publishing?
Yes. You can edit and republish templates anytime from Store Configuration.
